Medical Marijuana Found to be a Cost-Effective Adjunctive Treatment for PTSD, New Study Reveals Published on March 14, 2025 by Ben Adlin
A recent study on the use of cannabis for treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has found that medical marijuana—particularly non-flower formulations—can serve as a cost-effective adjunctive therapy for individuals with moderate PTSD, across various reimbursement scenarios.
The research suggests that, based on assumptions regarding the effectiveness and cost of medical cannabis, health insurance providers and other healthcare payors should consider including marijuana coverage alongside traditional treatments.
Lead author Mitchell Doucette explained to Marijuana Moment, “Our findings indicate strong evidence supporting the cost-effectiveness of medical cannabis for most product types. Integrating these options into patients’ drug formularies could benefit not only patients by reducing their costs but also health insurers by providing a more affordable alternative."

arijuana for help with PTSD
11/11/14 - A review of other marijuana studies by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences shows children whom regularly begin smoking marijuana at age 14 might have long term consequences on the brain. It may lead to lower IQ's however the result of the study was inconclusive.
This might be another reason to legalize marijuana. Marijuana if legal can be controlled and regulated such as alcohol. It could help to catch deliquent 14 yr old children and prevent them from trying harder drugs. Kids at age 14 whom regularly smoke will regularly drink, do pills, or other substances to get them high which all lead to effects upon the brain. People should recognize this and focus on the parents, households or kid to fix what is causing the childs behavior. Focusing on the sympton and not the cause isn't a solution. Trying to control one's outside environment is unrealistic. - Don from Oregon
